Bernice E. Hinson Smith

Graveside services for Mrs. Bernice Hinson Smith will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Centerville Cemetery near Medina.

Mrs. Smith, age 87, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness.

Bernice was born in Goat City near Medina to the late Eugene O. Hinson, Sr. and Lula Bell Younger Hinson. She was a graduate of Medina High School “Class of 54” and the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B. A. Degree in accounting. After 25 years, she retired from Nowell Accounting Firm, but continued working from home helping people with their accounting and tax needs. She also served on the Board of Centerville Cemetery. 

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Smith; brother, Eugene O. Hinson, Jr.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Amo Smith; sisters-in-law, Doris Hinson and Sandra Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers are: Barry Hinson, Greg, Mark, Norris, and Mike Smith.
