Gregory William Bailey
Medina, TN - Mr. Gregory William Bailey was born in Albany, NY, the first son of William "Bill" Bailey and the late Mona Pulliam Bailey. Greg passed away at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital on May 16, 2016 at the age of 61 after courageously struggling with complications from a sudden stroke.
Greg grew up with his younger brother, Robert Bailey (of Truro, MA), in Illinois, Virginia and Kentucky, where he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a major in Political Science. Following graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C. and served in the Army and U.S. National Guard, he then joined the elite U.S. Capitol Police Force. He later became a D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer. Since moving to Tennessee in 2000, Greg held several security positions, including one at the Milan Arsenal.
Greg's family will remember him as an amateur historian, Irish enthusiast, and person of faith. He is mourned with love by his aforementioned father and brother, as well as his daughter, Anastasia Bailey Kidd, of Boston, MA; his friend Phyllis Dunlap, of Medina, TN, numerous cousins, including Ginger Austin of Mercer, TN, extended family and friends, and his devoted dog, Boo.
Per Greg's wishes, services will be held privately at a later date.
